Editorial standards

The promises we make about everything we publish.

We write our own recipes

Each recipe and Fuel Note is written for this site. When a dish is inspired by a tradition, such as Greek avgolemono or Japanese nasu dengaku, we name the inspiration and describe how our home version differs.

We cook them at home

Recipes are made in a home kitchen with standard U.S. measures and ordinary equipment. Times are honest estimates for a home cook. We point out the steps where your oven, pan or ingredients may change the result.

We take food safety seriously

We give safe internal temperatures for meat, poultry, fish and eggs, and storage times based on published U.S. guidance from sources such as FoodSafety.gov and the USDA.

We keep health talk out of it

We describe meals in terms of ingredients, flavor and balance on the plate. We do not make medical, weight-loss or disease claims, and we do not use before-and-after images. Nothing we publish replaces advice from a doctor or registered dietitian.

We credit images

Licensed photos are credited with the creator and license on the page. Illustrated cards are created for the site.

Independence

Fuel Healthy Recipes shows no ads, publishes no sponsored posts and accepts no payment for recipes or reviews. We promote the site with Google Ads campaigns; that has no influence on what we publish.

We fix mistakes

If something is wrong, let us know. We check every report and correct errors quickly, noting the review date on the page.
